Throughout his career, Tariq has often led the charge of establishing and expanding, start-up ventures, businesses and divisions. He has strong working relationships with a large number of institutional investors and family offices in the region. He has more than 30 years of work experience of which the last 14 years have been focused on private equity investments and real estate; food and agri investments; and Islamic banking and structured finance, Islamic insurance and fund management.
Tariq is an industry expert with over 18 years international experience across leading financial institutions. He has experienced coveted positions including a long stint as Head of Global Islamic Finance and Director of Structured Finance of Australia and New Zealand Investment Bank. Tariq served at ANZ Bank in London, Dubai and Karachi in Investment and Corporate Banking. He was also responsible for the development of Islamic finance capability including establishment of a listed Takaful company and Islamic Property Fund with Dubai Investment Group.
Prior to ANZ, Tariq’s career assignments were mainly in audit and accountancy with top-tier accountancy firms in UK, Canada and Pakistan in Deloitte, E&Y and PWC. He served as Director of Emirates Global Islamic Bank Limited. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, and subsequently qualified as a Chartered Accountant from Pakistan and Canada. Tariq has an M.B.A. in Finance and Accounting from Schulich School of Business from York University.
